RICHFIELD SPRINGS Claude Leroy Wilson, Jr, Roy age 90, passed away peacefully on Monday May 15, 2017 at Homelife at Folts. He had the comfort of knowing his family was at his side.
He was born on December 21, 1926, in Fort Edward, a son of the late Claude L. and Dorothy V. Wilson. Raised and educated in Hudson Falls the family then moved to Central NY. For many years he worked as a horse groomer at Fiddle Sticks Farm in Cooperstown. He retired in 1982.
Claude had a strong belief in God and was a member of the Church of Christ Uniting. He loved the outdoors especially hunting and fishing and was a member of Cherry Valley and Richfield Springs Sportsman Club.
Affectionately known as Roy he will be remembered as happy go lucky, easy going, gentle man who had a heart of gold and a contagious smile. He made friends easily and was devoted to his family and friends. He will be sadly missed.
Surviving are three brothers, Donald Wilson of Winter Haven, Fl., Raymond Wilson and his wife Silvia of West Winfield, Thomas Wilson and his wife Helen, a sister Joyce Zvirzdin all of Richfield Springs, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Stanley Wilson a sister Jean Earing.
Calling hours will be on Friday morning from 9:30 am to 10:30 am. In J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs. A Funeral Service will follow in the funeral home at 10:30am. The Reverend Doctor Mark Ioset, pastor of the Church of Christ Uniting will officiate. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Richfield Springs.
Memorial donations may be made to Catskill Area Hospice or Hospice & Palliative Care Inc. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
