HERKIMER-Clifford D. Boardman, Sr., age 66, passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2015, in St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica. He had the comfort of his loving family at his side. He was born on December 16, 1948 in Little Falls, son on the late Francis E. and Helen MacDonald Boardman. A lifelong area resident he was raised and educated in Little Falls. In 1997 he married the former Ruth A. Lynch in Middleville she preceded him in death in 1998. Mr. Boardman worked in construction with Midstate Roofing and Siding, Interstate Window Cleaning and Rock City Window Cleaning. He retired in 1999. Cliff was a member of American Legion Post # 38 Herkimer and Michael Pliseck VFW Post # 1459, Herkimer. In his leisure time he enjoyed cooking, fishing and riding his electric Scooter. To all who knew him he was a friendly, outgoing man who made friends easily and will be especially missed his buddies at the American Legion Post in Herkimer. Surviving are a son Brian Boardman of Frankfort, two daughters, Kandy Bush and her husband Michael of Ilion, Cheryl Brown and her companion James Carbone of Frankfort, one brother, Francis Boardman and his wife Rosemary of Herkimer, three sisters, Marsha Perry and her husband Claude (Punk) of Richfield Springs, Joan Knapp of Salisbury, Martha Owens and Margaret Higgins both of FL, eight grandchildren, one great grandchild many nieces, nephews, cousins and his special friend and companion of twenty years Julia R. Congdon . Besides his parents and wife Ruth he was preceded in death by two sons Clifford D. Boardman Jr. and John Boardman, three brothers, John Boardman, Dean Boardman and David Bullock. Calling hours for Mr. Boardman will be on Monday from 4:00 until 6:00 pm in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer. A funeral service will follow at 6:00 p.m. with Pastor Eugene Kipper officiating. Interment will take place in Salisbury Rural Cemetery later this spring. Members of American Legion Post # 38 Herkimer are asked to meet at the funeral home on Monday evening at 5:30 pm for ritualistic services.
