RICHFIELD SPRINGS - Clifford Roy Combs, 91, of East James Street, passed away Sunday morning, Feb. 11, 2007, in Mohawk Valley Nursing Home, Ilion.He was born March 26, 1915, in South Columbia, son of the late Roy and Aurlia Weaver Combs. A lifelong area resident, he was a graduate of Richfield Springs High School and has resided in Richfield Springs since 1937. On June 30, 1938, he was united in marriage with the former Mary Fulton in Cherry Valley. They shared a loving and devoted union of nearly 50 years until her passing on Feb. 1, 1998.
For over 20 years he worked as custodian for the Richfield Springs Central School System.Clifford had a strong belief in God and was a member of the Richfield Springs Bible Church. He will always be remembered as a quiet man with a wonderful sense of humor. He lived his life by the Golden Rule and found great enjoyment by doing for others. He had a down-to-earth, common sense manner that flowed from his personality and you could feel a warmth and friendship whenever you were with him. He will be truly missed by his friends and family.Surviving are a sister, Gladys Woodruff of Rome; two nieces, Janice and Judy; four nephews, David, Don Jr., Jimmy and Kenny; along with several cousins. Besides his parents and wife, Mary, he was preceded in death by a sister, Bernice Dygert.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 17, at 11 a.m. in the Richfield Springs Bible Church. The Rev. Alan Miller, pastor, will officiate. Interment will take place at a later date in Waterville Cemetery.There are no calling hours.Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the Richfield Springs Bible Church.
