Obituary

RICHFIELD SPRINGS - Clinton W. Robinson Clint age 91, passed away peacefully on Thursday July 28, 2011 at his home under the care of the Catskill Area Hospice. He was surrounded by his loving family. Clint was born on July 1, 1920in Cooperstown, son of the late Garrett G. and Marie Walker Robinson. A lifelong Richfield Springs resident he was raised with his many brothers and sisters on the family farm in Monticello and graduated from Richfield Springs High School. Upon graduation from high school he entered the US Army, serving in World War II. He proudly served with the 108th Engineers, stationed in Idaho, Puerto Rico and England. He was honorably discharged attaining the rank of Sergeant. Following his military service he enrolled in the Tri-City Barber School in New York City. He returned to Richfield Springs where he owned and operated his barber shop until he retired in 2005. On October 8, 1947 he was united in marriage with the former Lois Steere in Fly Creek. They shared a loving and devoted union of fifty-three years until her passing on July 18, 1994. Mr. Robinson had a strong faith in God and was a member of the Church of Christ Uniting, Richfield Springs. Over the years Clint was a most familiar face in downtown Richfield Springs. He was a man with a true sense of community. He served as Town Councilman as well as serving on the Richfield Springs School Board. To those who knew him he will always be remembered as kind and caring with a quiet generosity, who was never too busy to stop and share a conversation or tell a funny story to anyone he met. He will be truly missed by his many friends and family especially his cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving are his three children, Jacqueline Geminski of Clifton Park, Joyce Lundholm of Richfield Springs, and Douglas Robinson of Golden, Colorado, five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, two brothers, Warren (Chuck) Robinson, George Robinson both of Richfield Springs, one sister Lucy Engelhardt of Albany many nieces, nephew and cousins. Besides his parents and wife Lois he was preceded in death by a brother Wilbert Robinson. Mr. Robinsons family will be present to receive relatives and friends in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs on Monday from 1:00untill 3:00 p.m. Funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment with military honors will follow in Twilight Rest Cemetery, Monticello.
