RICHFIELD SPRINGS-Clyde A. Robinson, age 86, passed away peacefully on Friday afternoon, October 23, 2015, in Bridgewater Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing, Binghamton. He was born on January 20, 1929, in Cooperstown, son of the late Claude A. and Dorothy A. Mason Robinson. A lifelong area resident, he was raised in Richfield Springs and graduated from Richfield Springs High School, class of 1946. In 1948, he enlisted in the US Air Force. He served during the Korean War training in radar and electronics, participated in an atomic/hydrogen bomb experiment in the Marshall Islands, and did a short tour in the Grand Bahamas. He was honorably discharged in 1952 attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. Upon returning home from his military service, he rejoined his parents on the family dairy farm. He was united in marriage with the former Jone Greene on August 6, 1955 in Tannersville. Years later he continued his education at Oneonta State University where he received his Bachelors' Degree. After graduation, he started his teaching career at the age of forty-two, working at Sherburne-Earlville Central School until his retirement in 1997. Once a member and deacon in the Presbyterian Church, Clyde was an inquisitive, adventurous man who engaged those around him in his passion for life. In his retirement years he developed a great interest in table pool and enjoyed playing in a league at Pete's Bar in Herkimer. To all who knew him he was a kind, caring and intelligent man. Any conversation with him was straight and to the point yet you always felt a warmth and friendship whenever you were with him. He will be greatly missed. Surviving him are his wife Jone; daughter, Margo Roberts and her husband Phillip of Binghamton; daughter, Rebecca Robinson and her husband Clenn Hampton of Binghamton; son, Christopher Robinson and his wife Marci of Butte, MT; daughter, Pamela Robinson-Shetter and her husband Gerard of West Alexander, PA; two cherished grandchildren, Jonas Hampton of Binghamton and Rachel Robinson of Butte, MT; along with several cousins. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Kittie Robinson and his sister, Elizabeth A. Robinson. Calling hours for Mr. Robinson will be on Saturday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs. A funeral service will follow immediately after in the funeral home with the Reverend Doctor Mark Ioset, Pastor of the Church of Christ Uniting officiating. Interment with military honors accorded by the US Air Force will be in Twilight Rest Cemetery.
