Richfield Springs - Constantine V.Besedin, age 83, of State Highway 28, passed away peacefully onFriday afternoon, June 7, 2002 in Basset Healthcare, Cooperstown with his familyat his side.
He was born on October 16, 1918 in Odessa, Russia, a son ofthe late Vladimir and Mary Bessedin. As a young boy his family moved to Americaand settled within New York City where he was raised and educated graduatingfrom High School. On November 23 1941 he married Edythe Kisker in the WhitestoneRussian Orthodox Church. During World War II he proudly served with the US ArmyAir Corps from 1942 until his honorable discharge on June 5, 1946. He owned andVeterans Motor Service in Baldwin for over 30 years retiring in 1977. Since 1972he and his family had vacationed at Canadarago Lake. They moved to RichfieldSprings in 1991 coming from Lynbrook. For many years he was a Boy Scout leaderwhile living in Lynbrook. He enjoyed woodworking,
building and home repairs. He delighted in his family and washappiest when sharing cherished time with them.
Surviving are his devoted wife of 60 years, Edythe; hisloving children, Robert Besedin and his wife Judy of Baldwin, Thomas Besedin andhis fiance Lee Foglia of Islandia; his daughter, Judie Mayer of RichfieldSprings; four grandchildren, Laura, Besedin, Christopher and Elizabeth Mayer andRobert Besedin, one niece Anne Kostiluk, two nephews Michael and Alex Jordan anda cousin Elena Hinich.
Funeral service will be on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. in J.Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs.Interment with military honors will follow in Lakeview Cemetery. The family willbe present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Mondayevening from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m.
