Dolgeville - Daniel J. Barretta, age 26, of Barker Road, beloved husband of Alisa Bass Barretta, died unexpectedly on December 22, 2004 as a result of an automobile accident. He was born on January 19, 1978, in Little Falls, son of Louis and Elaine (Burdick) Barretta. A lifelong area resident, he graduated from Dolgeville High School and continued his education at Hudson Valley Community College graduating in 1998. He was currently employed with Ritter and Paratore Construction Company of Schuyler. On May 26, 2001, he married the former Alisa Bass in St. Francis deSales Church, Herkimer. Dan was a free spirit, he could make you laugh one minute or lend a helping hand in troubled times. He enjoyed hunting and driving recreation vehicles, however his greatest pride and love was for his family, and was happiest when spending time with them. Surviving besides his devoted wife Alisa, are his 21-month-old son Zachary Daniel Barretta, his parents Louis and Elaine Barretta of Dolgeville, two brothers, Steven Louis and his wife Jennifer Barretta of Dolgeville, Sean Hollum of Hague Virginia, mother and father-in-law Collen and Daniel Bass of East Herkimer, grandparents, Ida Barretta and Willard Burdick both of Little Falls, Everett and Ruth Bass, Less Shaut all of Herkimer, brother and sister-in-laws, Daniel and Carrie Bass, Melissa and Matthew Kuzontkoski all of Herkimer, nieces and nephews, Anthony Baretta, Alexis Baretta, Stephanie and Joseph Bass, Tyler and Jordyn Kuzontkoski aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. Funeral service from Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer on Tuesday at 9:30 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am in St. Francis deSales Church. The family will be present in the funeral home on Monday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. As an alterative to sending flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to Crouse Hospital Neo-natal ICU, 736 Irving Avenue, Syracuse, NY 13210.
