MOHAWK-Daniel John Reardon, age 83, of South Richfield Street, entered into eternal rest on Sunday morning February 22, 2004 in his home. He was born on February 9, 1921, in Little Falls, son of the late Daniel and Catherine Gorman Reardon. Dan was raised in Little Falls and graduated from Saint Marys Academy class of 1938. In July of 1942 he enlisted in the US Army, he served with the 464th Air Bourne Artillery Division as a Technical Sergeant during World War II. He was awarded the American, Asiatic and Pacific Medals, the Good Conduct Medal and Bronze Star Medal. He was honorably discharged in October of 1945. On October 13, 1946 he married the former Florence Anderson in Brooklyn. A loving and caring union of fifty-seven years, they have resided in Mohawk since 1967. For many years Mr. Reardon worked as a bank officer for the Fleet Bank in Little Falls, retiring in 1986. Dan had a strong belief in God and was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Herkimer. He was a caring man and contributed much to his community. He was a member of the Mohawk Kiwanis Club, a volunteer of the Sue Campagna Herkimer County Hospice as well as a member of the Herkimer County Hospice Foundation where he served as board chairman for several years. To all who knew Dan they can rejoice that he was a part of our lives. His down to earth manor flowed from his character. Any conversation with him was frank and to the point. But you could sense a warmth and friendship whenever you were with him. He will remain in our hearts forever. Surviving besides his wife Florence, are two sons and their wives, Kevin and Linda Reardon of Merrimac, MA, Kent and Rebecca Reardon of East Syracuse, two daughters, Cathy Syhre of Huntington Beach, CA, the Reverend Dana Reardon of Warwick, RI, two brothers, Francis Reardon, Patrick and his wife Jean Reardon of Little Falls, nine grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral service will be on Tuesday at 12:00 noon in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Herkimer. The Reverend Alice Moberg-Sarver will officiate. There are no calling hours. Mr. Reardon will be laid to rest in Mohawk Cemetery later this spring. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Herkimer. Envelopes will be available at the church.
