MARYLAND -David L. Duncan Sr. age 59 of State Highway 7 passed away peacefully on Wednesday Evening January 29, 2014 in Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown. He had the comfort of his loving family at his side. He was born on April 3o, 1954 in Herkimer, son of the late Frank D. and Shirley Slater Duncan. Lifelong area resident he was raised and educated in Richfield Springs and Milford. On October 5, 1974 he was united in marriage with the former Darlene Hawley in Schenevus. He first worked for Dave Drake Farms in Milford and later for his father in law, Glen C. Hawley at Hawleys Auto Recycle in Cooperstown Junction. He formally retired in 2002, but would still turn wrenches in his garage at home. Dave enjoyed watching NASCAR, especially when Dale Earnhardt Sr. was still driving. His real passion was hunting, the outdoors and befriending wild animals in his back yard. To all who knew him they will never forget the hard working, fun loving man with an unforgettable smile, who was happiest when he was surrounded by his many friends and family, especially his four cherished grandchildren. He will be sorely missed. Surviving are his wife of thirty-nine years Darlene, two sons, David Duncan Jr. of Otego, Derek Duncan and his wife Shannon of Cooperstown Junction, one daughter Naomi Grigoli and her husband John of Maryland, two brothers and their wives, Frank D.
