ILION-David R. Hoke age 52 of East North Street entered into eternal rest on Saturday night August 16, 2003 in Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown. He had the comfort of his loving family at his side.
He was born on July 2, 1951 in Little Falls, son of Helen Louise Kunes Hoke and the late Arthur William Hoke. A lifelong area resident he was educated in Owen D. Young Central School and graduated from Anaheim High School in Anaheim, CA
.
Mr. Hoke had resided in Frankfort until 1999 when he moved to Ilion. For many years he was employed as a truck driver for Sun Belt Trucking Company in Little Falls, retiring in 1989.
David will always be remembered as easy going and having the ability to gracefully take in stride all of lifes ups and downs. He was happiest when he was with his many friends and family. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by three sons; David R. Hoke Jr. of Michigan, Scott and his wife Kelly Hoke of Ilion, Jeremy Hoke of Little Falls, his mother; Helen Hoke Erb and grandfather Charles A. Kunes both of Canandaigua, five brothers; Charles and his wife Pamela Hoke of Tacoma, WA, Harold and his wife Diana Hoke of Penn Yan, Joseph William and his wife Sharle Ann Hoke of Crescent City, CA, Bernie Hoke, Bruce and his wife Dina Hoke all of Canadaigua, three sisters; Barbara and her husband Richard Bunce of Orange County, CA, Ann Hoke of Mooresville, NC, Colleen and her husband William Cornish of Yellville, AK, four grandchildren Korey and Erik Hoke of Ilion, Nicholas Hoke of Saint Johnsville, Chayane Lynn Hoke of Pittsfield, MA, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral service will be on Wednesday at 11:00 am in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer. The Reverend Patti Lawrence, Pastor of the First Baptist Church, Herkimer will officiate. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Gardens, town of Little Falls. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 4:00 until 7:00 pm
