RICHFIELD SPRINGS- David W. Kennedy, age 74, of Monticello Street whose courageous battle with cancer came to an end on Monday October 21, 2013 in his home. He had the comfort of his family at his side during the time of his passing.
He was born on July 18, 1939 in Cobleskill, a son of the late William and Mildred Cain Kennedy. He was raised and educated in Schoharie graduating from Schoharie High School. On January 24, 1959 he married the former Maureen Mitchell in Central Bridge. They came to Richfield Springs from Rome in 1970. David was an auto mechanic by trade working for numerous car dealerships, retiring in 2005.
David enjoyed gardening, yard work and doing home repairs. Family and friends thought he resembled Tim Taylor from the show Tool Time. He was most happy spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed by his many friends and relatives.
Surviving him are his wife Maureen of nearly fifty-five years, six daughters; Connie Domion and her husband Michael of Richfield Springs, Laurie Greene of Queensbury, Colleen LaSalle of Long Beach, CA, Kelly Kennedy of Richfield Springs, Lisa Gaskins and her husband Herman of Gainesville, VA, Susan Cristman and her husband Michael of Mohawk, four brothers; James Kennedy and his wife Teri of Mariaville, Roger Kennedy and his wife Cindy of Cobleskill, Paul Kennedy of Cobleskill, Richard Kennedy and his wife Vicky of Sanford, FL, four sisters; Barbara Oliver and her husband Robin of Schoharie, Joan Nirschl and her husband Alan of Worcester, Donna Yorke and her husband Albert of Summit, Diane Polson and her husband Gary of Lutz, FL, eleven grandchildren; Ryan Kennedy, Heather Domion, Lindsay Domion, Olivia LaSalle, Emily LaSalle, Sarah Herman, Richard Dinehart, Derek Porter, Jordan Gaskins, William Cristman, Matthew Cristman, two great-Grandchildren Brayden and Kilie.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, John LaSalle.
Funeral service for Mr. Kennedy will be at 11:00 am on Saturday October 26th in the Church of Christ Uniting, Richfield Springs.The Reverend Mark Ioset, Pastor will officiate.Interment in the Lakeview Cemetery, Richfield Springs to follow the service. There will be no calling hours.
Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the Oncology Unit at Bassett Healthcare.Envelopes will be available at the church.
