ILION – David Hugo Riesel, Jr. age 66, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at his home. He was born on November 13, 1956, in Herkimer, a son of the late David and Loretta (Ford) Riesel. David was honorably discharged from the US Navy and for many years worked as an electrician for Electrical Workers Union Local #3. David enjoyed the outdoors, be it hunting, fishing, camping,hiking or just being in the peaceful surroundings of nature. He will be fondly remembered as a gentle, caring man who put his family and friends first. He was there with a helping hand or shoulder to lean on. He will be sadly missed by those who loved him. He is survived by his long-time companion and fiancé Shonda Dugan, of Ilion, a son Daniel a Riesel and his wife Tiffany, a daughter Rebecca Montalbano, and her husband Craig all of Long Island, a brother Terry Riesel, and his wife Shelly a sister Wanda Loeffler and her husband Robert, a granddaughter Olivia as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Besides his parents he was predeceased by a brother John and sister Susan Betz. Calling hours will be on Tuesday from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer.
