Obituary

RICHFIELD SPRINGS - David Edward Stocking Bucky age 81 of Center Street passed away peacefully on Thursday evening April 11, 2013 in A.O. Fox Hospital, Oneonta. He was born on June 10, 1931 in Springfield Center, son of the late William and Dorthea I. Church Stocking.Bucky was raised and educated in Springfield Center.On December 25, 1951 he was united in marriage with the former Virginia Tero in Saint Marys Episcopal Church, Springfield Center. It was that same year he enlisted in the US Air Force where he proudly served for twenty years being honorably discharged in 1971 attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant.Upon completing his military career he went to work for Titan Homes in Sangerfield, retiring in 1993 after twenty years of dedicated service. Mr. Stocking was a member of American Legion Post #616 Richfield Springs. In his leisure time he enjoyed woodworking and spent many hours in his shed making many different kinds of bird houses.To all who knew Bucky he was a warm hearted gentleman and devoted family man. He was happiest when he was surrounded by his many friends and family especially his cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren.He will be sorely missed. Surviving him are his loving wife of sixty-one years, Virginia, one son David A. Stocking of Fort Plain, two daughters and their husbands, Terri and Michael Morton of Burlington Flats, Cheryl and Harry Coones of Schuyler Lake, two sisters, Helen Duncan and her husband Ray of Richfield Springs, Kathy Eckler of Worcester, eight grandchildren, Sonya Buck, Heather Thomas, Jolene Stocking, Tamara Hynes, Trista Bartl, Michael Morton, Nicole Oden and Peyton Coones, twelve great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins.Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, William Oakley Stocking, Dusty Lane Stocking, a sister Betty Searles, one grandson David Stocking and daughter-in-law Deborah Bunn Stocking. Calling hours for Mr. Stocking will be inJ. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street; Richfield Springs on Tuesday from 1:00 to 3:00 and 5:00 until 6:30 pm. A funeral service will follow immediately after the visiting hours at 6:30 pm. Interment with military honors will be later his spring in Springfield Center Cemetery.Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
