Obituary

SCHUYLER LAKE - Ida Davis, 73, of Church Street, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2001, in Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown. She was born Sept. 27, 1927, in Schuyler Lake, daughter of the late George and Gladys Light Curry. A lifelong Schuyler Lake resident, she was a graduate of Schuyler Lake High School. On Oct. 20, 1946, she married Truman Ray Davis in the Schuyler Lake United Methodist Church, a loving and devoted union of 47 years until his passing May 4, 1993. Mrs. Davis had worked for the Sure Catch Co. in Richfield Springs and from 1968 until 1993, she and her husband owned and operated the Richfield Lanes. She was a member of the Schuyler Lake United Methodist Church, a charter member of the Schuyler Lake Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She was former Girl Scout leader and former member of the Snow Toppers Snowmobile Club. She was a friend to many and will never be forgotten. Surviving her are three sons and their wives, Glenn and Linda Davis, Larry and Danna Davis and Tyson and Abbey Davis, all of Schuyler Lake; one daughter, Cynthia and her husband Lance Bennett of Richfield Springs; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Curry of Schuyler Lake and Ruth Ann and her husband John Senko of Ilion; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents and husband a brother, Herman Curry, preceded her in death. Funeral service will be Saturday at 5 p.m. in the Schuyler Lake United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Thomas Pullyblank officiating. The family will be present in the church to receive relatives and friends Saturday, two hours prior to the funeral service, from 3-5 p.m. The committal service will take place next Saturday, Sept. 22, in the Schuyler Lake Cemetery at 10 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Richfield Springs Emergency Rescue Squad or the Schuyler Lake First Responders. Envelopes will be available at the church. "Keep my light in your eyes. Say goodnight not good-bye." Funeral arrangements were made with J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, Richfield Springs.
