HERKIMER-?Dawn Marie Taylor age 48 passed away peacefully on Saturday morning June 17,
2017 in her home after an extended illness. She had the peace and comfort of her loving family
by her side. Dawn was born on February 23, 1969 in Herkimer, daughter of the late Everett V.
and Martha J. Ashley Sanders. A lifelong area resident she was raised in Mohawk and
graduated from Mohawk Central School with the class of 1987. On August 11, 1989 she was
united in marriage to Harry C. Taylor Jr. in the First Baptist Church in Mohawk. In 1989 they
moved to Herkimer coming from Mohawk. For nineteen years, Dawn worked for Folts Home,
first as a receptionist, then as a ward clerk and later in the Administration Department of Folts.
For a short time she worked for Wal-Mart, Hummels Office Plus and Faxton-Saint Lukes
Medical Supply before going to work for eight years at Lexington ARC in Fulton County. She
retired in 2016. Dawn had a strong belief in God and was a member of the First United
Methodist Church Herkimer/Little Falls where she had taught Sunday school. To all who knew
her she was a selfless, caring, always happy woman who would light up the room whenever she
entered it. She had worked with 4-H Kids with their various projects. She was artistic herself
and found much relaxation drawing and sketching. Dawn was happiest when she was
surrounded with her many friends and family, especially her two cherished grandchildren.
Always concerned with the welfare of others she will be sadly missed.
She is survived by her devoted husband Harry of twenty-nine years, a son Zachary Harry Taylor
and his wife Jennifer, a daughter Sabrina Marie Taylor and her Fiance Harry Ingerham, two
grandchildren, Lilith Ingerham and Felicity Ingerham all of Ilion, her two brothers; Darrell
Sanders and his wife Kim, daughter Hannah, and son Nicholas of Ilion; and David Sanders of
Conway, SC, former sister-in-law, Melissa Skipper, son Michael,and daughter Kaylee, and
several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by an infant
brother, Daniel Sanders.
Dawns family will be present to receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, June 27th from 10:00
am until 12:00 pm then 2:30 pm until 4:30 pm in Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Court Street;
Herkimer. A funeral service will follow at 5:30 pm in the First United Methodist Church
Herkimer/Little Falls with the Reverend Janet Gleason, Pastor officiating. Immediately after the
funeral service the family invites everyone to gather in the church hall for fellowship and
refreshments. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the First United Methodist Church
Herkimer/Little Falls. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
