HERKIMER-Delores Salisbury, age 81, of Jeffrey Street, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, July 1, 2011, in Faxton-Saint Lukes Medical Center. She had the comfort of her lovingfamily at her side.She was born on May 16, 1930, in Herkimer, daughter of Frank and Lela Eitenier Donato. Delores was raised in Herkimer and graduated from Herkimer High School with the class of 1948. For a short period of time Delores worked in the Registrars Office at Colgate University in Hamilton. On June 10, 1950, she was united in marriage with Donald M. Salisbury in Saint Marys Catholic Church, Middleville. They shared a loving and devoted union of fifty-four years until his passing on September 21, 2004. Mrs. Salisbury was a dedicated housewife and mother who had the fortune of traveling the world over with her husband Donald while he served his country with careers in both the US Navy and US Air Force. In 1972 they returned to Herkimer where they permanently retired. Mrs. Salisbury was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Herkimer; she was active with the Mohawk Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross, American Legion Auxiliary Post # 1118 Adirondack Unit, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary # 4915, Herkimer, the Herkimer Lady Elks # 1439, and the Polish Club. To all who knew her she will always be remembered as a caring, fun loving and hopeful person. She made friends easily and those friendships lasted forever. She was devoted to her family and cherished her grandchildren, step-grandchild and great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.Surviving are one son, Dean V. Salisbury and his wife Debra of Budd Lake, NJ, two daughters, Toni Ann Salisbury and her fianc Jessica Baer of Torrance, CA, Dinah L. Maxwell of San Diego, CA, one sister Jacqueline Annotto and her husband Anthony of Herkimer, five grandchildren, Joshua and Jacob Maxwell, Michael, Alexis and Donato Salisbury, a step-grandson Wesley Baer, two great grandchildren, Colton and Sophia Maxwell, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents and husband Donald she was preceded in death by a brother, Anthony Donato and two sisters, Ida Shaul and Katherine Rickles. Funeral service with Holy Eucharist will be on Saturday July 9th at 10:00 am in Christ Episcopal Church, Herkimer. The Very Reverend Paul Bailey, Rector will officiate. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will be present to receive relatives and friends in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street; Herkimer on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the Christ Episcopal Church, Herkimer. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Members of the American Legion Auxiliary Post # 1118 Adirondack Unit are asked to meet at the funeral home on Monday at 7:15 pm for their service. Members of the Herkimer Lady Elks are asked to meet at the funeral home on Friday at 7:30 pm for ritualistic services.
