ILION - Diane Truax Spina Gimelli age 62, of Ilion went home to be with the Lord on Monday evening November 19, 2007 in St Elizabeths Medical Center, Utica. She had the comfort of her loving family at her side. Diane was born on August 11, 1945 in Utica, daughter of Dr. Ford Francis Truax and M. Delores Trossett. She was raised in Uticaand was a graduate of UticaFree Academy. On April 10, 1993 she was united in marriage with Lou Gimelli in Herkimer. For more than twenty-eight years Mrs. Gimelli was employed at Central New York Developmental Disabilities Service Office in HerkimerCounty. She retired in 2006. Diane had a strong belief in God and had served as Treasurer and Elder for the word ChristianCenter, Herkimer. She loved her children and grandchildren and enjoyed family trips out west (especially the cruise). She is survived by her husband, Lou, a daughter, Michelle Truax of Rome, one son, Joseph Truax and his wife Beth and granddaughter Katelynn Truax all of Cortland, step-children including Tracei Stafford, Brian Walker, Wendy Spina and Michelle Barker, step-grandchildren, Allen, Amanda, Wayne, Mark and Kaylee. She also leaves three sisters, Sharon and her husband Marty Gorman of Maryland, Jackie and Joe Sgrai of Arizona, Colleen Truax and companion Mark of Utica, two brothers, Kevin and his wife Jenny Truax of Clayville, Brian Truax of Forestport, an aunt Bernadette and her husband Ray Schultz, many nieces, nephews and cousins, special people including her dear friend of forty years Sue Swiech, Abby Loughlin and her friends at the Word Christian Center. Funeral service will be on Saturday at 5:30 pm in Fenner Funeral home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer. Pastor Eugene Kipper of the WordChristian Center will officiate. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Saturday from 2:00 until 5:00 pm. The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at St Elizabeths MedicalCenter, especially Dr. Tretter, Dr. Sullivan and Dr. Kelly. Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to The Word Christian Center. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
