HERKIMER Donald Eugene Foster, age 86 passed away peacefully on Friday, September 1, 2017. He was born on July 1, 1931, in Fairfield a son of the late Leland A. and Agnes E. Bradbury Foster. His first marriage was to Norma Jean Smith. He later married Jean Pohleven. They both preceded him in death. For about 20 years he owned and operated the Don-Nor Dairy Farm. He then sold farm equipment until his retirement. Don was one of the first members of the NYS National Farmers Organization. He will be remembered as a proud and independent man who enjoyed traveling and chatting with his farmer friends. He was also a great supporter of the Ronnie Smith Band and attended most of his local concerts and shows. He is survived by two sons, Dennis Foster and his wife Mary Ann of Herkimer, Jason Foster of Green Lake, MI, a daughter, Dianna Lynn Irving and her husband Jim of Aurora, CO, a sister Reta Taylor of Middleville, six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents and former wives he was preceded in death by a son David E. Foster on March 1, 2017, a grandson Nicholas Foster, a brother Stanley and brother-in-law Art Taylor. The family will be present in Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer to receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 11:00 until 12 noon. The funeral service will follow at noon with Pastor Joelle Faulks, of the First United Methodist Church, Herkimer/Little Falls officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
