HERKIMER Donald Ernest Lyon, age 61 passed away on April 24, 2023 at Albany Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born on March 2, 1962, in Herkimer a son of the Dorothy (Riesel) Griffith and the late George D. Lyon. Don was raised on the family farm on Osborne Hill Road and attended West Canada Valley School. He worked on many farms throughout his lifetime, especially for his siblings and Robert and Donna Murphy's farm. He had also worked at the Herkimer Wood Products. His last employment was as a Shift Supervisor at the Middleville Rest Home. Donald was a kind-hearted man and would help anyone in need. He spent many days building and repairing fences, loading hay, picking rocks as well as all aspects of life on the farm. Donald is survived by his mother and step-father, Dorothy and James Griffith, siblings, Debrah and William Murphy, Robert and Susan Lyon, Meta Elwood, Joanne and Stephen Keblish, Diane and Keith Dillenbeck, John Lyon, Joseph and Angela Lyon, step-siblings, Judy Griffith and Robert Daneault, Joyce and Craig Devereese, James and Cheryl Griffith and their families, 22 Nieces and nephews, 35 grand nieces and nephews, along with one great niece soon to be born. Also surviving are Robert and Donna Murphy long with their six daughter and families. Besides his father George D. and his grandparents, he was preceded in death by a brother George, a sister Catherine Lyon, two nephews and two nieces. A memorial service in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street will be held on Tuesday May 23rd at 11:30am Interment will follow at Calvary cemetery.
