HERKIMER-Donald W. Matthias 64 of Steuben Hill Road, died onThursday morning October 5, 2000 in Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown. He was bornon October 1, 1936 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, son of the late Frank H. andMaude Anna Wright Matthias. Mr. Matthias was a graduate of Gettysburg College.In 1981 he came to Herkimer and for seventeen years was President of LittleFalls Color Print, retiring in 1998. For the past two years he had worked as areal estate agent for the Bruce Ward Company, Herkimer. He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church,Herkimer. He belonged to various trade organizations and was a member of SCORE.He was a past Cub Scout Pack Leader, a former member of both the Utica Red Bandand the Herkimer Elks Lodge # 1439 B.P.O.E. Surviving him are his wife Barbara Jeanne Christy Matthias,six children; Robert and his wife Michele Matthias, Tamara and her husbandJeffery Scott, Jason and his wife Mary Ann Matthias, Scott Matthias, Kimberlyand her husband Brian Law, Kristin Byrd, a brother Robert and his wife DodyMatthias, two grandchildren; Alexandra Law and Corbin Byrd, several nieces andnephews. Funeral service will be on Monday at 10:00 AM in TrinityEvangelical Lutheran Church, Herkimer. The Reverend Dale Dickerson pastor willofficiate. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will bepresent in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer to receiverelatives and friends on Sunday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Memorial donations may bemade to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeralhome.
