Herkimer-Donald F. Morse, 78, ofDouglas Avenue, died after a long illness, on Monday, September 4, 2000 in hishome with his loving family by his bedside.He was born on May 6, 1922 in the town ofHerkimer, son of the late Bert A. and Grace Stephens Morse. A lifelongHerkimer resident he was a graduate of Herkimer High School "Class of1941" and went on to attend General Motors Institute in Flint, MI. In1942 he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force. He served with the 341st.Bomb Squadron in North Africa and Italy and was honorably discharged in 1946with the rank of Tech Sergeant. On June 14, 1946 he married Sally Cramerin Kenmore, NY. For twenty five years he was the Service Manager forGaffey Motors then Young and later Perkins Buick Cadillac dealerships inHerkimer. In 1973 he went to work for Collis Construction Company andlater for Collis Hardware in Herkimer retiring in 1998. Don was an avidgolfer and was a member of the Senior League at the Mohawk Valley Country Club. Surviving him besides his wife of 54 years,Sally, are a son, James Frederick and his wife Mary Jane Morse of Rochester; twodaughters, Sandra Lee Morse of Rochester, Donna Ruth and her husband Lee H.Dymond of North Potomac, MD; five grandchildren, Justin Morse of Rochester,Abagail Dymond, Shaina Dymond, Gabriel Dymond, and Jesse Dymond all of Potomac,MD; and his faithful feline friend "Bayberry". He was precededin death by a brother Robert Morse in 1992. A memorial service will be on Saturday at12:00 noon in Fenner Funeral Home, Inc. 115 Court Street, Herkimer with theReverend George B.
