ILION Donald J. Piotrowski,Pete, age 71, passed away unexpectedly, on Saturday, April 20, 2013m in Faxton-St. Lukes Medical Center, New Hartford. He was born on December 21, 1941, in Schenectady, son of the late Joseph and Genevieve Victor Piotrowski. Raised and educated in Schenectady, he graduated from Mohonasen HS class of 1960, and received his AAS in Electrical Technology from Hudson Valley Community College graduating in 1963. Upon graduating he enlisted with the US Air Force and served for 23 years retiring as Sr. MSGT on December 15, 1986. He then worked for Lasalle Labs in Little Falls, retiring in 2006. He was first married to the former Ruth Krieble. They had two daughters. On September 15, 2001, he was united in marriage to the former Wendy Brower in Herkimer. Pete was a quiet man who enjoyed his family and puttering around the house. Surviving are his wife of 12 years, Wendy, two daughters Leah Donaldson, and her husband Timothy of Melbourne, FL., Deborah Nickles and her husband Jonnie of Rome, stepson Richard Bachelder and his wife Jennifer, stepdaughter Terre Dunning all of Ilion, eight grandchildren, Travis, Abigail and Matthew Nickles, Samuel and Benjamin Donaldson, Evan and Nicholas Dunning and Derek Bachelder. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 am in the Life Church, on corner of Route 69 and Tannery Rd, Rome. The family will receive friends and relatives at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 am - 11:00 am (one hour prior to the memorial service) Funeral arrangements are with Fenner Funeral Home, Inc.
