ILION-Donald Grant Trask age 72 of West Main Street passed away peacefully on Monday afternoon April 2, 2007 in Valley Health Services Inc., Herkimer.
He was born on February 14, 1935 in Burlington Flats, son of the late Ernest L. and Emma June Brigham Trask. A lifelong area resident he was educated in Richfield Springs High School . On April 4, 1964 he was united in marriage with the former Janet Sherrick in Ilion . A loving and devoted union of twenty-two years she preceded him in death on May 10, 1986.
Mr. Trask was a dairy farmer and for twenty seven years worked for the Bubb Dairy Farm in Spinnerville, retiring in 1979.
Donald had a strong belief in God and was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Mohawk. He will always be remembered for the down to earth manor that flowed from his character. Any conversation with him was right to the point but you could sense a warmth and friendship whenever you were with him. He was a friend to many and will never be forgotten.
Surviving him are three step-sons, Francis Raux and his companion Kathy Klotz of Yorkville, Fred Quick and his companion Cindy Moore of Utica, Albert Raux and his wife Nancy Rosbrook of Little Falls, three brothers, Robert Trask and his wife Katherine of Cedarville, Raymond Trask and his wife Mary of Ilion, Albert Trask of Herkimer, a sister Ruth of Yorkville, five grandsons, four granddaughters, three, great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews including a special nephew Douglas Trask of Mohawk and many cousins.
Besides his parents and wife Janet he was preceded in death by four brothers, Ronald, Douglas, Earl and Harold Trask, two sisters, Bertha St Mary, and Dorothy Pestar, along with his special friend and companion Jean Darling who died in 2006.
Funeral service will be on Thursday at 3:00 pm in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer. The Reverend Gary Wilcox, Pastor of the Bible Baptist Church Mohawk, will officiate. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery , Richfield Springs later this spring. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 1:00 pm until the time of the funeral service at 3:00pm.
Donalds family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Jennifer and Gary Mead for the care, comfort and compassion shown to Donald during these last few years. It will always be remembered.
