RICHFIELD SPRINGS - Donald E. Walsh, 84, of Ann Street, passed away Wednesday morning, Oct. 28, 2009, in Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown. He was born April 2, 1925, in Worcester, son of the late Harry and Maggie Roe Walsh. Don was raised and educated in Worcester. On Dec. 12, 1954, he was united in marriage with the former Ida L. Carroll in Worcester. They shared a loving and devoted union of nearly 47 years until her passing Nov. 9, 2001. For many years Mr. Walsh worked for the Schoharie County Highway Department and Checkerboard Feed Store in Cobleskill. He retired in 1988. In his leisure time he enjoyed cooking, reading, telling lifelong stories and reminiscing about his many memories. He was a friend to many and will never be forgotten. Surviving are three sons, Donald J. Walsh and his companion, Becky Oldick of West Winfield, Jeffrey Walsh of Richfield Springs, and Michael Walsh and his wife, Dawn of West Winfield; three daughters, Patricia Coll and her companion, Darrell Decker, Holly Walsh and Kimberly Stocking and her husband, Gene, all of Richfield Springs; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Besides his parents; and wife, Ida, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Daniel F. Walsh on July 15, 2002. Funeral services for Mr. Walsh will be held at noon Monday in the Richfield Springs Bible Church. The Rev. Alan Miller, pastor will officiate. The family will receive relatives and friends in the church two hours prior to the funeral service from 10 a.m. to noon Monday. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery.
