MIDDLEVILLE - Donna Marie Sharp, age 66, formerly of Herkimer, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday evening, December 12, 2010, in Little Falls Hospital.She was born on June 22, 1944, in Herkimer, daughter of the late Joseph P. and Doris M. Tetlock Cristiano. A lifelong area resident, Donna was raised in Herkimer and was a graduate of Herkimer High School. On Nov. 9, 1968, she was united in marriage with Robert T. Sharp in Herkimer. They made their home in Herkimer until 2007 when they moved to Middleville. She was a member of Saint Francis de Sales Church, Herkimer.At one time, she had worked as an optician at the Air Force Base in Rome. She also owned and operated her antique shop on Church Street in Herkimer and owned and operated Donnas Restaurant on North Washington Street for several years.Mrs. Sharp was known for her extensive collection of old post cards, particularly Clapsaddle Post Cards. In her leisure time, she found enjoyment going to the Turning Stone Casino and playing the many games they had to offer.To her many friends, she will always be remembered as a caring, loving and hopeful person. She found great joy in doing for others without looking for anything in return. She will be sorely missed.She is survived by her loving husband of forty-two years, Robert; one daughter, Julie Sharp, of Little Falls; a brother, Joseph and his wife, Janet Cristiano, of Pleasanton, Calif.; two grandchildren, Caitlin Sharp and George Watson, both of Little Falls; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Freddy Cristiano, in 1946.A funeral service will take place on Saturday, March 19, at 11 a.m. in Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Court St., Herkimer. The Reverend Mark Cunningham, Pastor of Saint Francis de Sales Church, Herkimer, will officiate. Interment will be later this spring in Calvary Cemetery.Memorial donations may be made in her memory to Make-a-Wish Foundation. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
