Obituary

ILION-Doris Ann Fogerty age 71 of West Clark Street entered into eternal rest on Monday evening July 26, 2004 in Saint Lukes Medical Center, New Hartford. She had the comfort of her loving family at her side. She was born on February 1, 1933 in Herkimer, daughter of the late Joseph and Olive Rathbun Herringshaw. A lifelong area resident she was raised and educated in Herkimer. On April 27, 1957 she married Robert Charles Fogerty in Saint Marys Church, Little Falls. She, her husband and children lived in Little Falls until 1967 when they moved to Ilion. Doris had a strong belief in God and led a devoted Catholic life. She was a member of Annunciation Church, Ilion. To her family she was the one that they leaned on in both good times and bad. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her many friends and family especially her fifteen grandchildren. Surviving her are two daughters and their husbands, Barbara Ann and Ken Tillinghast, Lynn Marie and Joseph White all of Ilion, four sons and their wives, Robert Charles Jr. and Jackie Fogerty of Hazen, AK, David Allen and Mary Fogerty of Ilion, Brian John and Pam Fogerty town of Ohio, Steven Lee and Karen Fogerty of Ilion, four brothers and their wives, Albert and Betty Herringshaw of Miller Mills, Ralph and Ginny Herringshaw Donald and Josephine Herringshaw, all of Herkimer, Tom and Linda Herringshaw of Richfield Springs, six sisters, Iva Kast of East Herkimer, Alice and her husband Ronald Wellington of Herkimer, Louise Kretchmer of North Hampton, MA, Sandy Buck of Ilion, Judy and her husband Robert Eckler of East Herkimer, Kay Balch of Ilion, fifteen grandchildren, Chris and Jason Fogerty, Danny, Alex and Samantha Fogerty, Adam, Heath and Kendra Tillinghast, Justin and Jordan White, Meghan, Rebecca, Michael and Katie Fogerty, two sister-in-laws Kornelia and Greta Herringshaw, several nieces, nephews and cousins along with her special canine friend Jett. Besides her parents five brothers, Charles, Joseph, Robert, Elwin Al, Vern Ike Herringshaw and a brother-in law, Barry Kretchmer precede her in death. Funeral from Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer on Friday at 9:15 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am in Annunciation Church, Ilion. The Reverend John Yanas will officiate. Mrs. Fogerty will be laid to rest in Oak Hill Cemetery, Herkimer. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 until 9:00 pm. Expressions of sympathy may be made with donations to the Cody Murdoch Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
