Dorothy M Armstrong's Obituary

HERKIMER - Dorothy M. Armstrong age 78 of Sherwood Acres, passed away on Friday morning November 30, 2007 in St. Lukes Medical Center, New Hartford. She had the comfort of her loving family at her side. She was born on December 20, 1928 in Utica, daughter of the late Alphonse and Doris Lindsay LaTraille. A lifelong Herkimer resident, she was a graduate of Herkimer High School. On August 10, 1950 she was united in marriage with Lockhart W. Armstrong in Herkimer. A devoted union of thirty-eight years, Mr. Armstrong preceded her in death on July 17, 1989. For many years Dorothy worked as a clerk for Smith Dry Cleaning on North Main Street in Herkimer. After their closing she worked for B&E Fabrics until her retirement in 1991. Mrs. Armstrong had a strong belief in God and was a member of the Oak Ridge Free Methodist Church. In her leisure time she enjoyed sewing, doing crafts and the challenge of a good crossword puzzle. To all who knew her, she will always be remembered as a loving, caring and hopeful person. To her family she leaves wonderful memories of the years they had growing up together. She will be truly missed. Surviving are one son, Alan L. Armstrong and his wife Laura of Jensen Beach, FL, her daughter, Diane Armstrong of Herkimer, three granddaughters, Alyssa Armstrong of Rochester, Alana Armstrong, Alexa Armstrong both of Jensen Beach, Fl. Besides her parents and husband Lockhart she was preceded in death by her step-father Carl Olyer. Funeral service will be on Monday at 11:00 am in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer. Pastor Tommy Dennis of the Oak Ridge Free Methodist Churchwill officiate. Interment will follow inOak Hill Cemetery. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends one hour prior to the funeral service (10:00 until 11:00 am). Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the Parkinsons Foundation or the American Kidney Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
