Obituary

ILION - Dorothy Freeman, 73, formerly of Hillcrest Manor, died on Saturday morning May 12, 2001 in Mohawk Valley Nursing Home, Ilion. She was born on August 30, 1927, in Salisbury Center, a daughter of the late Harmon and Ruth Sawyer Boyer. Raised and educated in Salisbury Center she graduated from Stratford High School. She then continued her education, receiving a diploma in Practical Nursing. For over 25 years she worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse in St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Utica. She was a dedicated nurse, a loving mother who's strength they leaned on. Dorothy was happiest when she was surrounded by her family and will always be remembered as a caring and helpful person. Surviving her are two sons, Douglas and his wife Donna Rockwell of Dolgeville, Timothy Rockwell of Ilion; one daughter, Gloria and her husband Bill Martin of Ilion; one brother Arthur and his wife Lillian Boyer; a sister Leona and her husband Clifford Perkins all of Dolgeville; thirteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral Service will be on Tuesday 11:00 am in Fenner Funeral Home Inc. 115 Court Street, Herkimer, with the Reverend James DeWitt, pastor of the Mohawk Reformed Church officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. View Memorial Gardens, town of Little Falls. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Monday from 4-7 p.m.
