ILION - Dorothy Jane Lescynski, age 93, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2015 in her home. She was on born on May 22, 1921 in Superior, Wisconsin, a daughter of the late Gust E. and Clara (Pederson) Anderson. She attended Superior, Wisconsin school s and received her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Wisconsin State University at Superior. She first taught in Wisconsin, then Michigan and Illinois before coming to the Ilion School District where she taught for many years. She retired in 1980. Jane was united in marriage to Raymond Lescynski on March 25, 1944. After thirty-six years of a loving marriage, characterized by their loyal devotion to one another, he predeceased her on April 29, 1980. Jane is a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Herkimer, NYS Retired Teachers' Association, AARP, and EGA (Embroiders' Guild of America). Jane was a quite woman of enormous strength who above all devoted her life to her family. She was happiest at times of family gatherings and togetherness. Her family was her pride and joy. Her first priority was that of her family, where she proved herself a loving, caring and devoted woman whose major concern was fulfilling the needs of the loved ones. Among her many pleasures in life were family, quilting, needlework and travel. Surviving are her granddaughter and caregiver, Rachael Madison, and her husband Sean, granddaughter Rebecca Walrath and her husband Robert, four great grandchildren, Emily and Ethan Madison, Lauren and Lane Walrath, a sister, Beatrice Horst and her husband Charles, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Besides her parents and husband Raymond, she was preceded in death by her daughter Kathryn on June 13, 2013 and a sister Elaine. The family will be present in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer on Saturday, to receive friends and relatives from 10:00 am until 12 noon. A funeral service will be held on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Herkimer. The Reverend Ann M. Zimmerman, pastor will officiate. Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donation to the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. Herkimer. Envelopes will be available in the funeral home. The family wishes to thank Hospice and Palliative Care for the compassionate care given to Jane and her family during her illness.
