HERKIMER-DorothyRivers 71 of West Lake Avenue, died on Monday morning, March 27, 2000 in Faxton-St.Lukes Hospital Center, New Hartford. She was born onJuly 5, 1928 in Schuyler, daughter of the late William Wallace and Jennie AliceReed Bowie. A lifelong area resident, she was a graduate of Mohawk High School. At one Dorothy had worked for Remington Rand Corp., National Stores and W. T.Grant Co.. On April 5, 1951 she married Earl H. "Mike" Rivers in theFirst United Methodist Church Herkimer. Dorothy loved her family and her home,there wasnt anything that she couldnt do in the kitchen weather it werecooking or baking apple pies. She was a member of the First United MethodistChurch Herkimer. Surviving besides her husband of forty-eight years Earl are ason William M. Rivers of Herkimer, two daughters and their husbands; Sandra andRichard Sullivan of Oriskany, Sheila and Robert Kennedy of Mohawk, a specialgranddaughter Sarah Elizabeth Kennedy, a grandson R. Kyle Kennedy, severalnieces, nephews, cousins and her faithful friend Pepper. Funeral service and intermentwill be private and at the convenience of the family. The family will be presentto receive relatives and friends in FENNER FUNERAL HOME INC., 115 Court Street,Herkimer, Tuesday (today) 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Memorial donations may be made to theHerkimer County Humane Society; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
