FRANKFORT-Dorothy M. Van Horne, age 90, of West Main Street, passed away on Sunday afternoon August 9, 2009 in her home. She had the peace and comfort of her loving family at her side. She was born on May 23, 1919 in Utica, a daughter of the late Charles and Lena Hughes Hasler. A lifelong area resident she was educated in Utica. On June 8, 1940 she married Gerald E. Van Horne in Rome, NY. A loving and devoted union of fifty-two years until his passing on August 19, 1992. Dorothy found enjoyment in the simple things in life. Her home and family were foremost in her life and she cherished the time spent with them. She will be greatly missed. Surviving are her son Robert Van Horne and his wife Linda of Frankfort, grandchildren, Robert Van Horne Jr. and his wife Tammy of Forrestport, Jeremy Van Horne and his wife Kathy, town of Frankfort, Kathleen and Ed Gomolka of Forrestport_ great-grandchildren, Owen Van Horne, Lucas Van Horne, Mark Gomolka, and Hope Darling, who was like a granddaughter, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews including a special great niece Kari Craig. She also leaves a long time friend of 75 years, Judy Sears and her family. Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her two sons, David in 1949 and Charles in 1959, brothers Robert, Carl and three sisters, Margaret, Shirley and Edith. A special thanks with gratitude to all of Dorothys caregivers, including Tammy, Hope, Kathy, Shirley, Mattie, Kelly and Kari. Your loving care will always be cherished. There are no calling hours. Funeral and committal service will be private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are with Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer.
