GLENDALE, CA-Douglas Alexander Brown age 85 passed away on Sunday January 3, 2010 in Huntington Memorial Hospital,Pasadena.
He was born on January 5, 1924 in Syracuse, New York, son of the late Alexander M. and Nell B. Ews Brown. Doug was raised in Syracusewhere he graduated from Syracuse Central High School. A US Army veteran of World War II he served with the 75th Infantry Division in Germany and was honorably discharged in 1945. After his military service he continued his education at Syracuse University where he graduated with the class of 1951 attaining a degree in Architecture.
On August 15, 1953 he was united in marriage with the former Nancy Read in LosAngles and in 1954 took up residence in Glendale where they have remained since.
Mr. Brown was a self employed Architect who for seven years worked for the state of California. He retired in 1991. He was a member of the American Institute of Architects.
He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-three years Nancy R. Brown and many close friends.
A graveside funeral service will be held later this spring at the family plot in Scott UnionCemetery, Scott, NY. Funeral arrangements are with Fenner Funeral Home Inc.
