HERKIMER - Edith Lafayette, 89, of 104 North Washington St., passed away after a long illness on Tuesday morning, Oct. 4, 2005, in Folts Homes, Herkimer. She was born Aug. 31, 1916, in Fancy Gap, Va., daughter of the late Elbert and Sarah F. Edwards Tolbert. Mrs. Lafayette was raised in Virginia and was a graduate of Clareton High School. For many years she was a clerical worker for U.S. Steel in Pittsburgh, Pa., before moving to this area. She was of the Methodist faith. Surviving are her two daughters, Barbara Amber Howe of Florida and Claudia Snyder of Scarsdale; four grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, a brother and two sisters preceded her in death. Funeral service for Mrs. Lafayette was private. Her interment will take place in Pittsburgh, Pa., at a later date.
