RICHFIELD SPRINGS - Edith I. Suhocki, age 86, of Johnson Street, passed away on Thursday afternoon, October 31, 2013, in the Eastern Star Home, Oriskany.She had the peace and comfort of her loving family at her side.
She was born on November 19, 1926 in Richfield Springs, daughter of the late Eugene and Mabel Moyer Snyder. She was a lifelong Richfield Springs resident, where she was raised and educated.On May 12, 1946, she was united in marriage with Leon Suhocki in West Palm Beach, FL. They shared a loving and devoted union of sixty-four years until his passing on September 2, 2010. Along with caring for her home and family, Mrs. Suhocki worked for Mohawk Data Sciences in Herkimer, as well as ShurKatch Fishing Tackle Company and Rubys clothing store, both in Richfield Springs. More recently she was a baker for the Tally-Ho Restaurant in Richfield Springs.She retired in 2000.
Edith had a strong belief in God and was a member of the Church of Christ Uniting in Richfield Springs. She was also a past member and past Matron of Arbutus Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, Richfield Springs. In her leisure time she found relaxation in playing cards, embroidering and cooking and baking for her family.To those who knew her she was a caring, sincere and fun-loving lady who was happiest when she was among her many friends and family.She will be truly missed.
Surviving are one son, Larry Suhocki and his wife Teresa of Richfield Springs, a daughter Sharon Parslow and her husband Thomas of Rome, three grandchildren, Derek Suhocki and his wife Rhiannon, Erica Siver and her husband Shane all of Richfield Springs, Stacey Penree and her husband Anthony of Ilion, five great grandchildren, a brother-in-law Donald Berrie of Richfield Springs, several nieces, nephews and cousins.Besides her parents and husband Leon she was preceded in death by three brothers, Alfred, Alvin and Emory Snyder, six sisters, Ruth Owen, Ida Berrie, Hazel Snyder, Marjorie Griffith, Dorothy Evans and Pearl Waldruff.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the care provided to Edith by the staff of the Folts Home in Herkimer and the Eastern Star Home in Oriskany.
A graveside funeral service will take place on Saturday morning at 11:00 am in Lakeview Cemetery, Richfield Springs.The Reverend Doctor Mark Ioset, pastor of the Church of Christ Uniting will officiate. Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to Alzheimers Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the service.
