RICHFIELD SPRINGS - Edmund A. Hugick, 73, of County Highway 22, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2002, in his home.
He was born Jan. 6, 1929, in the town of Columbia, son of the late George and Mary Bukatko Hugick. A lifelong area resident, he was educated in Columbia and Richfield Springs schools. An honorably discharged U.S. Army veteran, he served his country during the Korean War. He was married to the former Isabelle Grube VonDauber. She preceded him in death on Oct. 14, 1969.
For over 20 years he worked for the town of Columbia Highway Department and the Herkimer County Highway Department.
Mr. Hugick had a strong belief in God and was of the Catholic faith.
Surviving him are three brothers, Theodore Hugick of Blossvale, Bernard and his wife Nancy Hugick of Mohawk and George Hugick of Richfield Springs; his aunt, Helen and uncle, Rudolph Karasek of Camillus; several nieces and nephews, including his favorite nephews, Mark and Michael Hugick, and several cousins.
Besides his parents and wife Isabelle, a sister, Frances Yaworski, predeceased him.
Funeral service with military honors will be held Friday morning at 11 a.m. in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court St., Herkimer. The Rev. Mark Cunningham, pastor of St. Francis de Sales Church, Herkimer, will officiate. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Thursday evening, from 7-9 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made to the Leukemia Society of America. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
