Obituary

RICHFIELD SPRINGS Edward Marzeski age 93, passed away unexpectedly on Friday evening August 12, 2016 in Bassett Medical Center. Born on January 15, 1923 in Richfield Springs, to Joseph and Eva Marzeski. He graduated from Richfield Springs Central School and soon after served our country during World War II as an Air Corp flight officer. He was united in marriage with Mary S. Joslyn on December 17, 1945 in Saint Josephs RC Church. They raised their family of five in Richfield Springs and enjoyed vacationing each summer on Cape Cod. Eddie was an active member of the community holding several political offices, a member of Rotary, R.S. Volunteer Fire Department and the Sportsman Club. He was a devoted father with a tender love for children. His first thoughts were for the needs of others, always looking for a way to help regardless of what it took and never expecting anything in return. A man of integrity and honor, with a strong love for family and country. He is now where he longed to be for the last seven and a half months, with his wife of 70 years celebrating on streets of gold, brushing up on their Arthur Murray dance steps. He was happiest when surrounded by his many friends and family and with them his memories and wisdom will be carried on. Surviving are his two sons and their wives, Dale (Kiyo) Marzeski of Richfield Springs, Joel (Patricia) Marzeski of Cazenovia, three daughters, Mary Lou (James) Butler of Gillette, WY, Marcia (Thomas) Goodale of Richfield Springs, Joan Marzeski of Roseboom, one brother, Joseph Marzeski of Richfield Springs, five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews. Besides his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Mur and one sister Josephine Adsit. A memorial service will be celebrated on Friday August 26, 2016 at 10:30 AM in Saint Josephs RC Church, Richfield Springs. The Rev. Silvaster Sarihaddula will officiate. Interment will take place in Saint Josephs Cemetery following the service. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Richfield Springs Fire Department or Friends of Bassett. Envelopes will be available at the Church. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at Bassett Hospital as well as Les Olmstead for their excellent care and kindness to the family.
