RICHFIELD SPRINGS-Elaine M. Emrich age 75 passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening January 3, 2017 in Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown. She had the comfort of her loving family at side. She was born on September 6, 1941 in Leonardsville, daughter of the late Mark and Bertha Innes Mahardy. She graduated from Richfield Springs High School, with the class of 1960. On July 24, 1982 she was united in marriage to Eugene A. Emrich in the Herkimer Reformed Church. They made their home in Ilion until moving to Richfield Springs in 2004. Mrs. Emrich had worked as a waitress at Howard Johnsons Restaurant in Herkimer until they closed in 1990. To all who knew her she was a caring, gentle and loving lady who adored her cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren. Elaine was affectionally known as the pie lady. She loved to bake pies for her family on their birthdays. In her leisure time she enjoyed crocheting, knitting and making blankets but always taking time out to watch The Days of Our Lives every afternoon. In the summer months she was an avid New York Yankees Baseball fan. Elaine will be sadly missed by her many friends and family. Surviving besides her husband of thirty-four years, Eugene are a daughter Robin Franklin of Ilion, two sons and their wives, Thomas and April Franklin of Schuyler Lake, Timothy and Kathy Franklin of Whitesboro, a brother, William Mahardy and his wife Alice of Richfield Springs, four grandchildren, Richard Franklin and his companion Danielle Hight of Ilion, Susan Boepple and her companion Kevin Mead, of Richfield Springs, Cory Boepple II and his wife Emily of Ilion, Kayla Fullington and her husband Scott of Richfield Springs, eleven great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a grandson Johnathan Michael Mead. Calling hours for Mrs. Emrich will be on Saturday from 1:00 until 3:00 pm in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street; Richfield Springs. A funeral service will follow immediately after at 3:00 pm in the funeral home with Pastor Alan Miller officiating.
