RICHFIELD SPRINGS - Elda Louise Sheldon, 94, of Richfield Springs, died on Sunday, May 30, 2004 in The Meadows, Cooperstown.
Elda was born on March 2, 1910 in Richfield Springs, a daughter of the late Mary Jones and Frank Armstrong. She was predeceased by her husband Leland on March 16, 2004.
Elda devoted her life to caring for her family and home. She was a sweet and gentle woman who faced lifes difficult times and illnesses with great strength, dignity and never a complaint. She looked for and found the good in everyone. Elda loved cooking, baking, tending to her many plants and flowers, crocheting, bird watching, and animals especially cats. She will be greatly missed.
Surviving are a son, William and his wife Sharleen Sheldon of Richfield Springs; one daughter, Valnette Rossi and her husband Tony of Schenectady; a daughter-in-law, Carol Sheldon of Pittsburgh, PA; a sister, Hazel Parsons of Unadilla, twelve grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, many nieces nephews and one cousin. Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two sons, Edward and Henry Sheldon, a daughter-in-law Mildred Sheldon, a brother, Harry Armstrong, and a sister, Eleanor Gravelding.
A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday at 2:00 p.m. in Springfield Center Cemetery. Reverend William Harkins, pastor of the Church of Christ Uniting will officiate.
The family would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped care for Elda and Windy during the past few years, including the Richfield Springs Emergency Squad, Otsego County Visiting Nursing, especially Kathy and Heidi, all the staff at Bassett Healthcare Cooperstown, the staff at the Meadow Cooperstown, and the Catskill Area Hospice. Your wonderful care, compassion and support were greatly appreciated and will always be remembered. Thank You
