Obituary

Deltona, FL-Eleanor Louise Engell age 86 formerly of Richfield Springs passed away peacefully on Saturday morning January 14, 2017 in her home. She had the comfort of her loving family at her side. Eleanor was born on July 1, 1930 in Schuyler Lake, daughter of the late Kenneth L. and Catherine Hadsell Sullivan Buell. A lifelong area resident, she was educated in Richfield Springs Central School. For many years she worked in quality control for UNIVAC in Ilion, Mohawk Data Sciences in Herkimer and Salada Tea in Little Falls. She retired in 1992. On October 16, 1998 she was united in marriage to Frank Madaras in Volusia, FL. They shared a devoted union of sixteen years until his passing on June 8, 2014. Mrs. Engell had a strong faith in God and was a member of the Old Stone Church in Schuyler Lake. She was also a member of the American Legion Post # 616 Ladies Auxiliary in Richfield Springs. In her leisure time she enjoyed cooking, entertaining and spending time with her friends and family. Eleanor was an avid seamstress making wedding gowns, teddy bears, knitting and crocheting. She had a special love for making beautiful quilts for her family. To all who knew her she will always be remembered as a loving, caring and hopeful lady with an unforgettable smile. She will be sadly missed by her many friends and family especially her cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving her are two daughters, Gayle Fralick and her husband Tim of Deltona, FL, Lynda Kenny of Syracuse, one son, Warren Engell and his wife Kathy of Syracuse, a brother, Ronald Buell and his wife Joan of Palm Bay, FL, two sisters, Lela Reed of Fly Creek, Kathy Melniczenko and her husband Alex of Edmeston, six grandchildren, Eric, Amy, Michael, Sara, Chantal and Nicholas, six great grandchildren, Rachel, Mia Bella, Lillia, Mason, Michael and Martino, many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband Frank she was preceded in death by three brothers, her twin Elmer (Bud) Buell, Kenneth Buell, Charles Buell and two sisters, Esther Ludeman and Janice Truex. Calling hours for Mrs. Engell will be on Monday from 4:00 until 6:00 pm in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street; Richfield Springs. Funeral service will follow immediately after at 6:00 pm in the funeral home with Pastor Rick Kinney officiating. Interment in Cedarville Cemetery will take place later this spring. Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the Old Stone Church, Schuyler, NY or the Halifax Health Hospice, 1625 Memorial Parkway; Orange City, FL 32763. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the Halifax Health Hospice Center for their support in Eleanors final days. Calling Hours J.
