RICHFIELDSPRINGS Eleanor M. Pestar, age 82, of Division Street, passed away onWednesday, October 9, 2002, in Bassett Healthcare Cooperstown.
Shewas born on September 25, 1920 in Jordanville, daughter of the late Frederickand Hattie Irish Barrett. Alifelong Richfield Springs resident, she was educated in Jordanville Schools.On September 11, 1950, she married William A. Pestar in RichfieldSprings, a union of thirty-two years until his passing in 1982.For a short time Eleanor worked for the Beechnut Company in Canajoharieand the Richfield Springs Knitting Mill. Shewas happiest when she was surrounded by her friends and family especially hergrandchildren and great-grandchildren. Inher leisure time she loved to play Bingo. Shewas a member of the Richfield Springs C B Club.
Survivingare one son, William and his wife Hyang Pestar of Ilion; three daughters,Frances and her husband Richard Harrison, Pauline and her husband David Lynchand Bonnie Melnichenko all of Richfield Springs; a brother, Robert and his wifeBetty Barrett of West Winfield; a sister, Shirley Potts of Richfield Springs;twenty grandchildren, several great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, andcousins and her favorite cousin Margaret Reynolds.
Besidesher parents and husband William, she was preceded in death by a son EdwardPestar in 1972, a daughter Marion Weir in 1992, a brother Harold Barrett, twosisters Betty and Marjorie Eckler.
Amemorial service will be held on Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. in J. SeatonMcGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs. Thefamily will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends onMonday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.
