Obituary

EAST HERKIMER Elizabeth (Betty) Emrich age 82, passed awaypeacefully on Wednesday morning November 14, 2012 in Faxton-St. Lukes Medical Center, New Hartford. She had the comfort of her loving family at her side. She was born of July 11, 1930, in Ossining, daughter of the late Paul and Elizabeth Kolarik Skandera. A lifelong Herkimer resident, she was a graduate of Herkimer High School with the class of 1947. On July 19, 1952, she was united in marriage with Donald A. Emrich in Saint Francis deSales Church, Herkimer. In 1956 they moved to East Herkimer where they have resided since. For thirty six years Mrs. Emrich was employed by the New York Telephone in Herkimer and Utica. She retired in 1984. Betty was a member of Saint Francis deSales Church, Herkimer. She was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers. In her leisure time she enjoyed knitting, crewel and counted cross stitch as well as an avid reader. To all who knew her, she was a loving, helpful and caring person. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she found great satisfaction in doing for others without looking for anything in return. She will be truly missed by her many friends and family. Surviving are her husband of sixty years Donald, two daughters and their husbands, Laure and Richard P. Sacco of New Hartford, Donna M. and Marc Snead of Ridgeway, VA, one son Norman P. and his wife Jessica Emrich of Whitesboro, a sister Mildred Engert of Herkimer, four grandchildren, Pamela Sacco and her companion Shaun LaPolla, Patrick A. Sacco and his wife Victoria all of New Hartford, Luke Emrich and Karlie Emrich both of Whitesboro, one great grandson, Gavin Blank of New Hartford, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral from Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer on Saturday at 10:30 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Francis deSales Church, Herkimer at 11:00 am. The Reverend Mark Cunningham, Pastor will officiate. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Friday(today) from 4:00 until 7:00 pm. Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to American Heart & Stroke Assoc, Autism Society of American NWPA, or the Central New York Affiliate of Susan G. Komen Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
