HERKIMER – Elizabeth "Betty" Ingerham, age 87 passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at Foltsbrook Center, Herkimer. She had the comfort of knowing her family was at her side during her passing for eternal rest. She was born on January 4, 1936, in Herkimer, the daughter of the late Augustus and Sophie (Burczinski) Atkins. She was raised and educated in Herkimer attending St. Francis deSalesSchool then graduating from Herkimer High School. As a young woman she worked at Derby Clothing, then Daffey Discount as a cashier. On February 26, 1955, she married William Albert Ingerham in St. Francis deSales RC Church. They shared a loving and devoted union of 48 years until his passing on October 17, 2003. Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who adored her family and spending time with them. Her beautiful flower garden was her sanctuary that brought her much pride. Upon her husband's retirement they enjoyed making birdhouses. He built them, she added all the painted details that made them a gifted treasure. Betty also enjoyed going to the movies with her friend Barbara Smithson or sitting home watching movies on the TV. But if there was a Bills game to be seen, that was her first choice. Her laughter, her smile, and her kindness will live on in the hearts of those she loved forever, and she will be sadly missed. Surviving are her devoted children, a son Wiliam Ingerham and his wife Erin, of Chelmsford, MA four daughters, Deborah Davies and her husband Kent of Marcy, Teresa Barnes of PA, Cynthis Culver of Herkimer, Tina Clark and her husband, Larryof West Winfield, six grandchildren, David, Rebecca, Brittany, William, Joseph, Emma, eight great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. and her longtime friend, Barbara Smithson. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Theodore, and Richard Atkins. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 26 at 3:00 pm in Fenner Funeral Home Inc, 115 Court Street, Herkimer. Calling hours will be in the funeral home two hours before the funeral service. Interment in Calvary Cemetery will take place next spring. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Betty's memory to Foltbrook Center, 104 N. Washington St, Herkimer, NY 13350. Envelopes will be available.
