HERKIMER-Elizabeth Maytan age 99 passed away peacefully on Thursday morning July 4, 2013 in Valley Health Services, Inc.
She was born on December 7, 1913 in Herkimer daughter of the late Paul and Ann Horak Maytan. A lifelong area resident, she was educated in Mohawk and was a graduate of Herkimer High School. For twenty-three years she worked as an assembler for UNIVAC, retiring in 1975.
Elizabeth had a strong faith in God and was a lifetime member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Herkimer. At one time she was a member of the Lutheran Christian Womens, Lutheran Home Auxiliary, Herkimer and Mohawk Senior Citizens, AARP and Mohawk Chapter # 319 Order of the Eastern Star. Elizabeth will always be remembered as a sincere, caring and thoughtful person. She made friends easily and enjoyed spending time with them. She will be greatly missed.
Surviving her are a niece Marion Kline of Pembrook Pines, FL, one nephew, Paul Kustera of Jacksonville, FL. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Anna Kustera, Christine Wiley and a brother John Maytan.
Funeral service for Ms. Maytan will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 am in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Herkimer. The Reverend Ann Zimmerman, Pastor will officiate. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will be present to receive relatives and friends in the church library on hour prior to the church service (9:00 to 10:00 am).
