ILION – Elizabeth G. McConkey, age 87, passed away peacefully on Wednesday January 27, 2021, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica, NY. She was born on March 2, 1933 in Delhi, NY, a daughter of the late Arthur and Edith (Houghtaling) Bellard. Raised in Delhi she graduated from Delhi High School. In 1952 she married Ralph Farrington. He passed away in 1977. In 1978 she married Elmer Arndt. He passed away in 1983. Betty was all about family who were first and foremost in her life. Each one held a special place in her heart. She adored babies and young children and found much enjoyment knitting and crocheting baby blanket for the many grand, great-and great-great-grandchildren. This was her legacy. She would proudly brag about having 24 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren. In her younger days she enjoyed fishing and gardening. Most recently she loved adult coloring pictures books which she shared with family and friends. She also enjoyed a good western or love story. Everyone who knew her enjoyed her loving spirit and warm hugs. She will be sadly missed. Surviving are her loving family, three sons, David Farrington and his wife Sara of Central Square, NY Chester Farrington and his wife Selina of Rio Rancho, NM, Edward Farrington of Amsterdam, a daughter, Gertrude "Trudy" Zaffarano of Cody, WY, three stepchildren, James and Audrey Arndt of St. Johnsville, NY Grayden and Margaret Arndt of Ft. Plain, NY, Geraldine Condgon and her husband Earl of Nelliston, NY, nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, and husband Arthur and Elmer she was preceded in death by a son, Robert Farrington and step-daughter Dorothy Arndt. A funeral service for Mrs. McConkey will take place on Saturday June 26th at 1:00pm in Fenner Funeral Home Inc. 115 Court Street, Herkimer and at 3:30pm a celebration of life will take in the Honeybrook Hobbies Bakery 310 East State Herkimer .
