ROCHESTER - Elizabeth Phelps, 80, of Ross Street and former Herkimer resident, entered into eternal rest Thursday, June 26, 2003, in Blossom Healthcare Center, Rochester.
She was born Oct. 20, 1922, in Little Falls, daughter of the late Samuel and Alma Boynton Phelps. She was raised in Herkimer and was a graduate of Herkimer High School. During World War II she enlisted in the United States Navy. She was honorably discharged attaining the rank of petty officer third class. Elizabeth moved to Rochester in 1960, and in 1964 went to work as a clerk for the Lawyers Co-op Publishing Co. in Rochester. She retired in 1986. She leaves no living relatives but had many friends in Rochester and Herkimer during her lifetime. A memorial Mass will be celebrated Monday, July 21, at 1 p.m. in St. Francis de Sales Church, Herkimer. The Rev. Mark Cunningham, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Funeral arrangements are with Fenner Funeral Home Inc., Herkimer.
