RICHFIELD SPRINGS-Elizabeth Sparks age 92 passed away on Thursday morning April 14, 2016 in Folts Home, Herkimer. She had the support and comfort of her loving family at her side. She was born on May 4, 1923 in Summit, daughter of the late Edward Sr. and Sarah VanBuren Duncan. A lifelong area resident she was raised and educated in Schuyler Lake. On March 8, 1941 she was united in marriage with Clinton Delbert Sparks in the West Exeter Methodist Church. . Together they shared a devoted union and raised five children. Mrs. Sparks worked in the housekeeping department of the Herkimer Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1983. Elizabeth had a strong faith in God and attended the Paines Hollow United Methodist Church. In her leisure time she enjoyed music and dancing. To her family the memories of those warm cooking and baking aromas coming from her kitchen made their childhood years so very special. She was a caring, loving and hardworking lady with an unforgettable smile. She will be sadly missed. Surviving are three daughters, Sarah Wilcox of Schuyler Lake, Catherine Ervin of Mohawk, Isabelle Moynihan of Ilion, a son, Clinton Sparks Jr. and his wife Vivian of Richfield Springs, one brother, Raymond Duncan and his wife Helen of Richfield Springs, many cherished grandchildren, great grandchildren, great greatgrandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents and husband Clinton she was preceded in death by a daughter, Virginia Hruby, two sisters, Isabelle Krish, Louise Kenyon, seven brothers, Elwin, Edward, Sylvan, Frank, Herb, Fred and Howard Duncan. Calling hours for Mrs. Sparks will be on Monday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street; Richfield Springs. Funeral service will follow immediately after at 2:00 pm in the funeral home with the Reverend Theresa Gresheck officiating. Interment will take place in Schuyler Lake Cemetery.
