HERKIMER-Ellen Catherine Lowell age 93 passed away peacefully on Thursday morning February 9, 2017 in the Alpine Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility, Little Falls. She was born on September 7, 1923 in Little Falls, daughter of the late Francis and Bessie Wilder White. A lifelong area resident, she was a graduate of Mohawk High School. On October 26, 1946 she was united in marriage to Charles Theodore Lowell in the Church of the Annunciation in Ilion. They shared a loving and devoted union of sixty eight years until his passing on December 19, 2014. She enjoyed being with people and was a member of the Herkimer Lady Elks and the East Herkimer Senior Citizens. Her entire adult life revolved around her husband, her children and her home. She cared for them deeply and was always there for them. To her many friends she will always be remembered for her warm friendly manner and unforgettable smile. She will be sadly missed by her family, especially her cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving her are one son, Charles A. Lowell of Albany, a daughter Diane Collis and her husband Kenneth of East Herkimer, one sister, Marie Ray of Ilion, two grandchildren, Matthew Collis and his wife Kelly of East Herkimer, Sarah Ghiocel and her husband Scott of Albany, two great grandchildren, Alex and Madelyn Collis, her loving and caring brother-in-law and sisters-in-laws, and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband Charles she was preceded in death many brothers and sisters. A graveside funeral service will take place later this spring in Mountain View Memorial Gardens, town of Little Falls. Funeral arrangements are with Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., Herkimer.
