Obituary

RICHFIELD SPRINGS - Eloise A. Francisco, age 77, of Canadarago Street, passed away after a long illness on Friday morning February 9, 2007 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Lee Mayne in Burlington Flats. She was born on February 14, 1929 in the town of Norway, daughter of the late Harma and Floy VanVechten Primeau. A lifelong area resident she graduated from West Canada Valley High School with the class of 1946. Many of her classmates will remember her as the drum majorette, cheerleader and baton twirler all through their high school years. On October 6, 1948 she was united in marriage with Howard J. Pat Francisco. They shared a loving and devoted union for over fifty-three until Mr. Franciscos passing on February 23, 2002. Mrs. Francisco at one time worked for the Remington Rand Company in Ilion and from 1978 until 1985 for the Lake House Restaurant in Richfield Springs. Eloise was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 7720 Ladies Auxiliary and in 2002 took great pride in becoming a fifty-year member of the West Canada Creek Grange # 566. In her leisure time she enjoyed gardening and playing the organ at home. She spent many hours entertaining her friends and family playing her favorite music especially Polkas. Eloise was a unique person having both her Birthday and Valentines Day fall on the same date. Every year she would celebrate the occasion with decorations both outside and inside her home. It was always a day for her friends and family to gather together and enjoy the occasion with her. From the many cards that she received as well as the annual heart shaped birthday cake, it was an event that will remain in their hearts forever. Surviving are her daughter, Cathy and her husband Lee Mayne of Burlington Flats, two sisters, Eunice Weiss of battle Creek, MI, Anita Shaver and her husband John of Herkimer, two cherished grandchildren, Sherry and her husband John of Calcium Michael Mayne and his wife Kimberly of Fairbanks, AK, several nieces, nephews and cousins. As Eloise would have wanted it there will be a celebration of her life on Wednesday February 14th (Valentines Day) at 10:30 am in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs. The Reverend Jay P. Henderson, Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Burlington Flats will officiate. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and family on Tuesday from 4:00 until 7:00 pm. Interment will take place later this spring in Newport Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the Catskill Area Hospice and Palliative Care or the First Baptist Church of Burlington Flats. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
