Obituary

HERKIMER-Esther Katherine Teletnick, age 93, formerly of Eureka Avenue, passed away on Friday evening December 13, 2013. She had the comfort of her loving family at her side. She was born on June 1, 1920, in Ilion, a daughter of the late Charles and Mae Paddock Culver. A lifelong Mohawk Valley resident, she was raised and educated in East Frankfort and Ilion schools. At age six, she became disabled due to an automobile accident while walking to school. This affected the use of her right hand, arm and leg. She persevered, working hard throughout her life. She fought for her rights, receiving recognition when the Americans with Disabilities Act passed in 1964. She lived in both Ilion and Westmoreland and moved to Herkimer in 1950. On November 10, 1956 she was united in marriage with Joseph Teletnick in Ilion. They shared a blessed union of forty-one years until his passing in November of 1997. Mrs. Teletnick worked as a machine operator for Remington Arms, Remington Rand which later become UNIVAC in Ilion for eighteen years. She retired in 1963. Esther had a strong faith in God and was of the Methodist faith. She valued making others laugh, teaching about life and saving money. Her interests included singing while housekeeping, tending flowers, making cookies and doughnuts, sewing, playing cards, word searches, reading romance novels, but most of all she loved her family. She is survived by four sons, Carlton Bouck and his wife Leslie of Herkimer, Otis Bouck of Utica, William Bouck of Theresa, Edward Bliss and his wife Penny of Schuyler, eightteen grandchildren, many great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband Joseph she was preceded in death by one son Howard Bouck, a daughter Barbara Terry, eight sisters and four brothers, Dorothy, Mary, Ella, Edith, Bessy, Beatrice, Ruth, Esther , Ruby Harry, Howard, Bill and an infant Leroy. Calling hours for Mrs. Teletnick will be on Thursday from 11:00 until 1:00 pm in Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Court Street; Herkimer. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm with the Reverend Janet Gleason, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church Herkimer/Little Falls officiating. Interment in Mohawk Cemetery will take place next spring.
