HERKIMER-Ethel M. Rose age 90 of Harter Street and more recently of Folts Home, Herkimer passed away peacefully on Saturday December 11, 2010 in Little Falls Hospital. She was born on June 27, 1920 in Herkimer, daughter of the late Glen and Eva Mae Cool Mower. A lifelong Herkimer resident she was educated in Herkimer Schools. On January 28, 1970 she was united in marriage to Clark Rose in Herkimer. They shared a loving and devoted union of sixteen years until his passing on March 17, 1986. For thirty-two years she was a dietary assistant at the Herkimer Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1982. Mrs. Rose was a member of the Oak Ridge Free Methodist Church in Herkimer. In her leisure time she enjoyed playing Bingo with her newly made friends at Folts Home. She also found much relaxation doing embroidery and needlework. Ethel was happiest when she was surrounded by her many friends and family especially her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be truly missed. Surviving are two daughters, Evelyn Pierce and her husband Robert of Dolgeville, Judy Elthorp of Mohawk, one brother, Glen Mower Jr. and his wife Leona of Herkimer, four grandchildren, Brenda and her husband Arthur Mayhew, Stacey and her husband Thomas George, Ann Wainwright, and Bobby Pierce with his wife Brooke all of Dolgeville, eight great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents and husband Clark, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Edith Smalldone and Grace Eckler. Funeral service will be on Tuesday at 4:00 pm in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street; Herkimer. The Reverend Cathy Lee, Folts Home Chaplain will officiate. Interment will take place next spring in Mountain View Memorial Gardens, town of Little Falls. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Tuesday two hours prior to the funeral service (2:00 to 4:00 pm).
